Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

EXTRA FEES:

FLEAS:

Please do not bring your dog if it has fleas. Treat fleas with a vet approved treatment or a home treatment at least 24 hours prior to your dog groom, otherwise a flea deep clean will be charged at £100.00.

Unfortunately all other bookings will need to be cancelled until the space is flea free hence the hefty price, causing an inconvenience to you, us and other bookings for that day.

If we find fleas during a groom/wash, you will be informed and given the option of immediate treatment using an oral Capstar £10.00. If you wish us to complete the groom, we will use a specialised flea deep cleanse, treatment shampoo and conditioner £ 20.00, plus charge for the groom, and £100.00 for deep clean of the space.

If you do not wish to commence, the £100.00 deep cleaning fee will still apply.

We will know by the size of the fleas when the infestation started

You will be asked to pay for the flea treatments and cleaning extras prior to us commencing the groom.

 MATTING

Groom pricing for a matted dog starts from £80.00 per hour minimum. This is charged on a per groomer basis. Clipping out matts wear out clipper blades and take a toll on other tools used. Matting also takes longer to be removed safely by a skilled groomer. A medicated shampoo will then be used to soothe your pooches skin.

** This fee applies to matting found during any other treatment, bath and tidy groom and or maintenance groom. If we find the coat in an unacceptable condition, you will have the option of agreeing for us to remove the matts and paying the fee, or you can pick up your dog and take it to another groomer.

When it comes to matts, we are like for like, charging extra. see FAQ

It is extremely cruel for any animal to have to live with them. The most humane thing to do is to cut them out in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act 2006.

You will be asked to pay £ 80.00 deposit upfront prior to us commencing the groom

AGGRESSIVE DOGS

Aggressive dogs that require holding and settling, will be muzzled and will incur extra charges at our discretion for the extra working, if any and to be released back to you as soon as possible.

You must let us know if the dog has ever bitten another animal or human. This doesn’t mean we won’t groom your dog but for us to err on the side of caution

MEDICATED OR SPECIALIZED SHAMPOOS + CONDITIONER

Sensitive, itchy, dry, anti bacteria, fungal infection, ringworm, whitening…

If your dog requires a specialised medicated shampoo, please feel free to bring in the one you are using or we can use ours for an additional charge. We can discuss this upon booking.

 WHAT ABOUT OODLE GROOMS?

There’s no traditional clip for an oodle as there are so many types and although not purebred, we will make your oodle super cute with scissoring and/or the use of extension combs to keep the fluffiness and teddy-bear factor. This is a learnt skill and we charge like a traditional clip.

BATH TIME FOR DOUBLE OR COMBINATION COATS (a mix of coat length)

For shorter double coats, ie: Pugs, Corgis etc, are washed and conditioned with a deshedding shampoo.

During drying using our high velocity dryers to reduce drying time, excess loose fur will be blown out.

For longer double coats, ie Pomeranians, Cavalier King Charles etc.  Bathing and drying as for shorter coats, but they require more time brushing out, and more time to trim their pads and clip the nails. We can tidy any feathering for you, trim around the feet and shave hygiene areas too.

 SMOOTH COATS

Pooch is bathed and dried using our high velocity dryers to reduce drying time. The smooth coated dog is brushed using a furminator, which will help shed dead undercoat, then its nails clipped.

 Why are prices different?

Dogs aren't a one size fits all. They come in all sizes, shapes and breeds especially in oodles.
Some dogs are the size of a tea cup and can be fidgety to groom which can take as long as a medium size groom. Chihuahuas vary with smooth or a curly coat. Bigger dogs require more product, drying and grooming time and traditional cuts require more skill and knowledge.

Temperament plays a big part when grooming and, nervous or aggressive dogs will take longer. It's probably an honest assumption to say most dogs don't like to be groomed initially, but with a bit of sweet talking, positive reinforcement and patience they can learn to love a groom and the attention that comes with it. This is partly to do with the groomers behaviour and handling. We encourage a bit of playtime before we start and when we finish so that they learn that grooming can mean fun. But, as mentioned before, it is the owners responsibility to begin the touch and sound desensitising process when the animal is a pup and well before it's first full groom.

Another factor is coat type and length, whether it be curly, wired, long, short or combination and the condition of the coat and skin. Coats requiring a special shampoo will be charged more.

A matted dog is a different story! A heavily matted coat will never be brushed out, only shaved. Clipping and scissoring through mats requires skill and takes a toll on groomers’ tools, therefore a charge is incurred. *Please read the about 'matting section.'

We have tried to keep our prices fuss free by only having six main prices for a typical groom rather than by breed, coat and size.
